Karanika's winery has just finished. The building is a three-storey, gravity-flow winery situated between the villages of Amyndeon, Vegora and Lakkia, on a slope at the shores of lake Vegoritis. The illustration below shows the design. On the top floor under the narrow tile roof, the grapes are collected, selected and destemmed. By gravity flow the grapes slide to the middle floor where the red wines are fermented in both oak and stainless steel tanks of 40hl. The grapes are pressed at this level in a traditional basket press. Right underneath this floor are the ageing cellars and the bottling units. The rest of the bottom floor is reserved for the production of rose and white wines. On this bottom floor the refrigerating unit will be situated as well as the champagne making quarters. This rather exclusive design allows the red wines to be made without the desastrous effects of pumps.

The roof on the mid section (which is now opened to show the interior) will be the same as the tile roof on the rest of the building.
